METEORITES FOR SALE!

Need someone to identify your rock?

Portland State University will host the 2016 annual fundraiser for the Cascadia Meteorite Laboratory on Saturday May 14, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

The event will be held in the Department of Geology, Cramer Hall room 17.  Enter on the north side of the building (from the streetcar side on Mill St.) at ground level.

There will be three meteorite scientists, as well as meteorite collectors, hunters, and dealers who can help you identify your possible meteorite.

Meteorites and related material will be for sale, both by auction, and direct from dealers.

Above:  Slice of Seymchan pallasite that will be sold at auction this year.  This piece consists mainly of a mass of olivine crystals with a vein and small patches of metal (metal has been etched).

This is a fundraiser to provide for running the lab and doing small research projects.  Please come prepared to donate money or purchase auction items.

This is also a potluck.  Please consider bringing an item of food or drink to share.

If you are thinking about participating, please let us know by e-mailing cmlpsu@pdx.edu.
