A bright fireball lit up the skies of the Pacific Northwest early this morning at 2:40 am, June 3, 2004.  Reports have come in from numerous localities in Washington and Oregon, and as far east as Couer d'Alene, Idaho.  Sonic booms were heard from Portland, Oregon to Olympia, Washington.  A "burning sulfur smell" was reported in Chehalis.  Based on numerous eyewitness reports, the fireball appears to have been moving west to east towards the Centralia-Chehalis area of Washington.  This fireball is likely to have produced many meteorites.  If you saw this fireball, please call us at (503) 287-6733 or fill out the fireball report form (see link below) and mail it to us at the address below.
